The Senate committee on interior on Tuesday begins a two-day public hearing into the stampede that left 19 people dead during the aptitude test for the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja on March 15. The Senate in its resolution dated March 19 mandated the committee chaired by Senator Abubakar Bagudu to investigate the circumstances that led to the tragedy and submit a report within two weeks. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, and the Comptroller General of the NIS, David Parradang, are expected to appear before the Senate committee on Thursday and Friday.
